Ko Ngati Maniapoto.
Ko Ngati Ruanui ki Taranaki. Ko Te Rarawa, Ko Te Aupouri, Ko Ngati Whatua, nga iwi. Welcome to my world of feathers. My painted feathers capture the detail and personality of native birds, plants, scenes and trees of New Zealand which I love. I was born and raised in Palmerston North. I live with my husband Scott who makes the frames for my artwork, I have 2 sons, Karl and Jordan who are now in their twenties. My dog Pip, and my cat Tia are constant companions in my art room. I started painting feathers about ten years ago when a friend said to me "you love birds and you love feathers why don't you have a go at painting on feathers?" So I did, my artworks started small and unframed, however whilst preparing for one of my solo exhibitions on canvas, I decided to frame three feathers up a Tui, Morepork, and Wood Pigeon, they were a huge success and so my journey was born. My first exhibition was in 2004 at Turnbull Lounge Suites my fathers business. I have been part of numerous group exhibitions. I was commissioned by the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa for a children's interactive painted picture. I was invited to take part in the Braveheart Youth Trust Exhibition held in Auckland in 2014. I was featured in the New Zealand Artist Magazine November/December 2014, I was also invited to take part in the Art in a Garden exhibition in the Canterbury area in 2014, 2015, and 2016. I was selected for the Nelson Art Expo October 2015 and 2016 for a Solo Artist Wall exhibition. I was accepted for a Solo Artist Wall in the New Zealand Art Show held in the TSB Bank Arena in Wellington in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. I have been selected for the Christchurch Art Show held at the Air Force Museum of New Zealand in Christchurch, 2018, 2019, and next year in 2020. I have also been selected for the Auckland Art Show to be held in 2020. |
